- What I admired most of Ray Kroc was all the sacrifices he made to sculpt McDonald's into what it is today.
- What about the entrepreneur did you least admire?
- I probably least admired the fact that he was involved in some illegal and unethical businesses.
- Did the entrepreneur encounter adversity and failure? If so, what did they do about it
- He made a lot of mistakes throughout his lifetime, some that were illegal. Eventually, he was able to get on the right path and figure out what would make him successful while still being legal.
- What competencies did you notice that the entrepreneur exhibited?
- Kroc was able to adapt his focus from paper cups to a milkshake machines. He saw an opportunity in the McDonald brothers and ran with it.
- Identify at least one part of the reading that was confusing to you
- I was confused by the conflict between his personal life and professional life. I would like have understood more about his personal life.
- If you were able to ask two questions to the entrepreneur, what would you ask? Why
- What would you change now if you could go back in time?
- Are you proud of your accomplishments?
- For fun: what do you think the entrepreneur's opinion was of hard work? Do you share that opinion?
- I think his opinion was that he had to work hard to sell his product. His definition of hard work would be somewhere along the lines of improvement and consistency is key. I believe I share that same opinion as well.
Hi Kelly,
ReplyDeleteI think it was a great choice to choose to read about Ray Kroc and the Mcdonald brothers, I also did not know that Ray Kroc was almost 50 when he first started a Mcdonalds. It is very encouraging to see that everyone does have different paths and just because you feel as you are not caught up compared to other people doesn't mean you are actually failing in life. Great Post!
Hey Kelley. I like the McDonlads story. Ray Kroc changed the fast food business. His process helped the company make more money. He is a great example of an entrpenuer. He saw a big opportunity and took advantage of it. It is interesting to see how he was 50 years old. When I think of people in there 50s I typically think of people settling into their careers.
ReplyDeleteHello Kelly,
ReplyDeleteI think Ray Kroc is a great example of how you are never too old to change your career or go a different path. I was surprised to see Ray was in his early 50s when he started the company. I like your take on the entrepreneur's opinion of what hard work is. From reading your post, I can tell Ray was focused on improving himself and creating a consistent product customers would like.
